Nudity Not Rude At Home [Home & Garden]

After a mother complained to police about her family being able to see Palmerston Deputy Mayor Geoff Carter nuding up in his house, many people told NT News they are happy to go regularly naked at home.

But most people, and the law, agreed that nudity should be out of the public eye.

Father-of-three Phil Denson, 28 (pictured above), of Brinkin said "naturism" is healthy because his kids Flynn, 3, Mars, 1, and Safari Jewel, one week old, will worry less about body image.

"So the kids don't grow up thinking there's only what they see in magazines," he told the NT News. "It doesn't have to be a sex thing, it's just a comfort thing.

"And there's less washing to do.

"But even when we take them to school the teachers say Flynn always seems to lose his pants."

But Mr Denson said his offspring and wife Anna make sure they wear clothes in public view.

"Friends usually ring before calling over," he said.

Mike Foley, 72, has streaked at iconic spots in more than 20 countries. The Darwin musician penned The International Streaker in 1974 and is now on a streaking holiday in New Zealand.

He most recently streaked on a skateboard at sunrise in front of Mount Maunganui on Wednesday. His wife Kay takes the photos and he sells a charity calendar of his antics for Variety NT each year.

"I know we live in 2012, but I'm opposed to anything that would be seen to offend kids," he told NT News.

"If they're going to get their clothes off, they've got to be serious, if they get caught, it serves them right."

Top End Naturist Recreation Retreat owner Jean Paar, 62, who runs the year-round, 100-acre operation in Darwin River is unsympathetic to Mr Carter.

"If he got caught he deserved to get caught," she told NT News, while she was starkers.

"When we lived in the city we had to be discreet"

There is a prison term of six months, a $2000 fine, or both, for a person convicted of exposure in view of a public place.

How To Date A Nudist When You Are Not One [How-To]

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit
Is it possible to find love with someone who is a nudist when you are not? Although you may have a different opinion about whether or not to wear a swimsuit to the beach, you can meet your nudist (or sometimes referred to as “naturist”) date halfway. Instead of looking at the situation from a one-sided perspective (you may think that being naked is embarrassing whereas your date thinks its great), open your mind and embrace your differences. Regardless of whether he or she is a full-time or part-time nudist you can find common ground to cultivate a healthy dating relationship.

Steps
  • Do your homework. Before you form an opinion about nudism or naturism, do some research to find out more about the lifestyle. For most nudists, being naked in a public (or even private) place has no sexual connotations, but practice the lifestyle because it helps them to feel free and one with nature. Special clubs, beaches and even conventions are dedicated to naturism, where entire families convene and celebrate being human and embracing nature.
  • Determine how you feel about the topic. Your nudist date may have his or her personal opinion as to why the nudist lifestyle seems right, but you need to determine how you feel about the topic.
    • You have no opinion whatsoever. Since your date can’t be naked 24/7 and probably commutes to work, interacts with people on a daily basis and lives in modern society, you may not have any specific opinion about his or her nudism because you are not exposed to it (or have limited exposure). In some cases, you may be able to date a nudist without having to be part of the lifestyle and keep dates to public places and traditional social gatherings--what the nudist does on his or her own time is fine with you.
    • You are uncomfortable with nudism. Especially if you are uncomfortable with your own nakedness, you may be uneasy with your date’s nudism. Determine if you are uncomfortable around your date all the time or if the feelings of unrest arrive when he or she wants to be naked (while you are not).
    • You are curious about the lifestyle. Perhaps you don't want to join the revolution, but perhaps you are intrigued by naturism. You may want to do your own in-depth research and then, when you feel as if your date feels comfortable, ask questions.
  • Have a frank discussion about any hang ups. If this relationship is going to move beyond a few dates you are going to have to ask questions and lay your feelings out on the table.
    • Choose an opportune situation to have the discussion such as over dinner or coffee. Select a time when he or she is not naked so you can focus on the topic instead of the fact he or she has disrobed.
    • Determine when a discussion is important. If you have only been a few dates and like the other person, see which aspects of naturism you can work through on your own. You don’t want to embark upon a serious discussion about what concerns you early on and upset or freak the other person out.
    • Get the root of the real problem. Before you embark upon your concerns determine which aspects of nudism bothers you most. Is it that your date likes to practice nudism in inappropriate times and places or are you uncomfortable that he or she is a nudist in general. If you are uncomfortable with nudism in general, the problem may have something more to do with your personal opinions and experiences versus what the other person is doing.
  • Decide which aspects you can live with. If you really like the other person and want to continue dating him or her, you’ll need to determine if you can deal with his or her naturism. In many cases you can work out when and where he or she practices nudism.
    • Establish times when nudism is off limits. If you aren’t a fan of naturism, but feel as if this is the kind of relationship you are comfortable pursing, lay down some ground rules so that everyone is comfortable. For example, if he or she likes to be naked at home but you are uncomfortable, make a rule that nudism is only o.k. when you aren’t around.
    • Identify situations where you are o.k. with naturism. Situations include nude beaches, clubs or in private places--set clear rules about when your date should feel comfortable getting naked.
    • Decide to be undecided. If this is your first experience with someone who is a nudist, try to remain open-minded and willing to embrace your date’s interest. That doesn’t mean that you have to become a nudist, however as your feelings develop for the other person, understand that you may feel more comfortable with naturism and may eventually see it as a healthy lifestyle.

Tips
  • Explore different options of the nudist culture such as topless only or going to family friendly beaches or locales.
  • Remind your nudist date to liberally apply sunscreen to every exposed area of the body. A nasty sunburn in certain areas of the body may create a hiccup in your love life.
  • Understand that being a nudist does not make the other person perverted or sexually creepy. Do some research to understand the thinking behind the movement.
  • Consider trying it if you are curious about the lifestyle.

Warnings
  • If you are completely uncomfortable with dating a nudist be honest and discontinue dating the person.

How To Practise Nudism In Your Room With No One Knowing [How-To]

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit
Have you been intrigued by the nudism movement and wanted to try it yourself sometime? Perhaps you are not ready to practice nudism in public, but would like to try it in the privacy of your room. Simply follow these steps:

Steps
  • Shut and lock all the doors and windows in the room that you'll be staying in. Especially at night, pull the shades or blinds. You want complete privacy with no interference.
  • Make sure that you have plenty of things to do, and that you can keep to yourself for the period of time that you have in mind.
  • Remove your clothing and place it out of the way in one area.
  • Do what you wish:
    • Do fun things such as: Read a book, play a computer game, watch TV, draw, paint, play solitaire, do word searches, play guitar, and so on.
    • Do more serious pursuits such as: refine your resume, do computer research, do your taxes, clean your room, organise photos, and so on.
    • Moderate exercise, stretching, or yoga is very beneficial while nude, especially in front of a full-length mirror, as one can see which muscles and ligaments come into play.
    • Give yourself a self-massage. While you are not able to reach your back, you can massage your legs, arms, torso, and scalp.
    • While nude with an extended amount of time at your disposal, it is a good time to apply moisturising lotion all over your body as you relax on a blanket. In the winter months, especially, this would help solve dryness issues. You could purchase a special back lotion applicator.
    • Don't try anything illegal, harmful or otherwise unintelligent, for obvious reasons.
  • When you are finished, put your clothing back on, and go to another room if you want, with no one else the wiser.

Tips
  • Have a bathrobe and slippers handy, if you must leave the room to answer the door bell, use the bathroom, answer the telephone, get a snack, and so on. It will be much easier than having to put your clothes back on, and then having to take them off again. However, be ready with a quick answer if someone sees you outside your room and wants to know, "What are you doing in a bathrobe at this hour?".
  • Remember to enjoy this time for yourself, and have fun! This is your time to show how unique you are as a person.

Warnings
  • It is wise to practice nudism when your parents or significant other is not at home. This might be different if you can secure the room and keep it to yourself without anyone getting suspicious and inquiring or questioning your behavior. One way this can be done is by taking a "long" shower or bath.
  • If you are a woman and menstruating, take precaution.

How To Sleep Naked [How-To]

sleep-naked
from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit
Do you get sweaty on hot nights? Do you find yourself waking up in the middle of the night with your clothes all tangled up and making you uncomfortable? Do you hate waking up tired and groggy because you couldn't sleep comfortably? This article will not only tell you how to sleep naked and (if there is a strict clothing policy in your house) how to not get caught!

Steps
  • Decide if sleeping naked is right for you. Do you share a room or bed with other people or siblings? Do people constantly access your room without knocking? Is there no door for privacy? If you sleep in your own room, you should probably tell your parents that you want more privacy and you want them to knock before coming in. And/or inform them that you prefer to sleep in the buff so they are at least aware. If you sleep in a room with roommates or siblings then it is really something you should discuss with them before you attempt to do so. If you can't resolve any of the above issues then it would probably be best if you had some pajamas on to avoid confrontational/embarrassing situations.
  • Find a place to keep your clothes/robe in case of an emergency (at the end of your bed, where your feet are, so you can slip them on). If there is a fire, earthquake, robbery, etc., you need to make sure you have easy access to clothes and/or a robe, which is much easier to put on. Having to leave your house bare isn't something that you want to do often. Try to keep an accessible robe near your bed.
  • If your parents/roommates are not aware you sleep naked. Choose a night when you know you will wake up on your own or with the use an alarm clock. You really don't want someone to walk in on you if your blankets/sheets aren't covering your sensitive areas. But waking up to an alarm clock every morning doesn't exactly give you a relaxed awakening from your peaceful sleep. An alarm clock can also be downright annoying and negate the benefits of sleeping naked.
  • Again, if you have not made others in the household aware, make sure you are the last to go to bed. Say goodnight to everyone and get into bed with your sleeping clothes on. When you are sure everyone is in bed and won't be "checking" on you, slip off your clothes and place them in your designated spot, preferably where nobody will see them, but where they will be easily accessible to you.
  • Keep extra blankets for cold nights. There's no such excuse as "It's too cold to sleep naked." Your body is a great self-regulator in temperature. Clothes just throw that off. An extra blanket will work just as well as wearing a set of PJ's, actually better because blankets won't reduce blood circulation or cause you discomfort in the middle of the night like clothes do when you are sleeping.
  • Finally! Just strip! Don't be bashful! It's only your body! Snuggle up in bed and you'll find that when you wake up, you'll be surprisingly more refreshed and energized for the day than usual. That is if you don't have an alarm clock screaming in your ear. At first the experience may feel awkward for many, but after a few days, you get comfortable to being naked. For most, after a couple of days you'll realize how much you actually enjoy it.

Tips
  • If you are new to sleeping naked, yet want to try the experience, take it a step at a time. If you want, for the first night, try sleeping shirtless. The second night, try sleeping in only underwear or boxers. Keep removing an article of clothing each night until you feel comfortable enough to get naked.
  • Keep your clothes where nobody can find them easily. Just throwing them on the floor will be pretty obvious that you aren't wearing them!
  • On occasion, you will not need a set of clothes, as underwear can be a substitute for a pair of clothes under the bed. They are harder to find and some would rather see you in them than being bare when you put them on.
  • Use of a night robe. It will keep you completely covered in case of emergency, but also be easier to put on than regular clothes. Just slip it on or off, depending on what you need.
  • If you are sleeping naked in secret, make sure you have an alarm or something else besides a person to wake you up in the morning.
  • If you didn't concern parents about your privacy and you have a door with a lock and you are allowed to lock your door, then do it. However, be aware of any danger this may present in case of fire or other emergency.
  • Be sure to wash between your legs and between your butt cheeks thoroughly before going to bed. You may even want to use a baby wipe on your genitals and anus. This will keep the sheets clean, and if caught naked, you will at least be squeaky clean!

Warnings
  • Sleeping naked anywhere other than your own house can be dangerous and embarrassing. It is advised to sleep in at least your underwear at another person's house/public area. This also applies if you live with someone else, with your family, or especially with someone you're not close to.
  • If you have a pet, you will need to find an area where you can keep your clothes hidden from them too! Waking up to find your dog tearing up your boxers in the middle of your floor won't look too good to your groggy house members.
  • If you frequently sleep walk, or if you are on a medication to help you sleep better that may cause sleep walking, then it is advised that you do not attempt sleeping naked. You wouldn't want to wake up in the middle of your living room floor naked with your entire family staring at you!
  • Make sure to close the blinds on your bedroom window, if applicable. Remember that if you have the light on in your bedroom in the middle of the night, it will be very easy for anyone who can view the window to see inside.
  • Obviously, if you are a female and menstruating, take proper precautions.

Things You'll Need
  • Comfortable Bed
  • Bed Sheets
  • Blankets (For Cold Nights)
  • Easily Accessible Robe/Clothing
  • Alarm

Is Pubic Hair Coming Back Into Fashion? [Fashion]

This article is from Jezebel:

New pictures of Dutch model Saskia De Brauw in vintage Versace jewelry, stilettos, and nothing else, shot for the magazine Industrie are notable for one thing: they actually show her pubic hair. While toplessness is practically a staple of fashion photography, a frank depiction of pubic hair — or even just the acknowledgement of pubic hair's existence — had become a sort of oughts-age taboo.

This year's Pirelli Calendar, which Mario Sorrenti turned into a 24-oversized-page celebration of the male gaze, was obviously rife with full-frontal nudity. But at the key moment, a funny kind of modesty prevails: here a wrist obscures Lara Stone's crotch, there a shadow falls over Kate Moss's, and there the soaking wet white garment that fully reveals the shape of Isabeli Fontana's areolas pulls discreetly, and opaquely, away. Everything gets slightly blurry at the crucial cleft. From the waist down, these women are all shown to be about as featureless as Barbie. De Brauw, coincidentally, also posed for Sorrenti's calendar: her shots betray no hint of the hair Industrie was apparently comfortable enough to let her rock.

Normalizing Nude [Naturism]

This article is from the Dallas Nudist Culture Examiner:

Clearly local laws that prohibit public nudity represent one obstacle to the rights of nudists to enjoy the legal use of public lands and recreational areas for nude recreation. The real truth is however that changing culture not changing laws is the real pathway to expanding nudist rights.

Dr. Fred Foldvary, author and advocate for civil liberties, anarchy and free markets has observed, "It's more important to change the culture than to change the law. Judges and legislators will find ways to bend law to their culture, but once the culture is changed, the law will follow or become mute." Nothing could be truer with regard to expanding the rights of Dallas nudists and gaining more mainstream acceptance of nudist culture both here and elsewhere in the nation.

Anti-nudity laws are merely reflections of the opinions of the majority within a society about what constitutes acceptable moral behavior. Little can be accomplished by lobbying to change laws as long as the underlying societal views remain unchanged.

The 9 Greatest Penis Moments In Movies

This article is from NextMovie:

Let's all be adults; this is not a puerile discussion of the male member. We're merely noting that throughout history, while paintings and sculptures have depicted the nude male body with regularity, film has a limited number of offerings (not counting the XXX variety, of course), whereas leading ladies (even Oscar-winning ones) drop cover again and again.

Michael Fassbender, however, has no qualms about showing what God gave him. In Steve McQueen's new drama "Shame," Fassbender plays a sex addict who's in the buff so often his body is naked nearly as often as its clothed. In honor of Fassbender's courage to reveal everything, we're celebrating the movies -- and actors -- who've dared to go full frontal.

Roger Weiss - I AM FLESH [Art]

Human bodies have long been photographed and described. Many have been seen and read about. And every community, through its institutions and leaders, has always espoused certain body-types and shunned others. Showing off the desirable ones, and hiding the undesirable. All those who might be perceived as excessive or upsetting.

Roger Weiss, donning the role of a visual ethnographer, involves himself in every body-type of contemporary society. Almost adopting a “naturalistic” approach, he isn’t scared to get his hands dirty. To breathe somebody else’s breath. Accepting that our own images are never fully under control. Rather, he allows them a certain margin, opening up ever-changing and unlooked for perceptions. And with project 35, he invites us to continually switch between the general and the particular, setting in motion a systematic alternation between interior and exterior. He undermines the comforting idea of an established aesthetic of anatomy and takes us on a journey of the body that turns its revelations of intimacy into an exercise of democracy.

The essence of human rights, a key element for any society to call itself democratic, is that the autonomy of the individual rests on the inviolability of the human body. The body, that in past ages was in the hands of God and the ruler. In war, sent to the slaughterhouse by the generals. In the fields and in the factories, abused and deceived by the cheating bosses. Today, instead, our bodies belong to us. Admittedly, even under democracy, politics retain some control over our bodies. Always ready to regulate, to forbid and to issue permits. And yet, political control struggles with bodies reluctant to hand over control of their own fate. There are plenty of scenarios for control – and plenty of dilemmas – from procreation to living wills.

One of these scenarios relates to the expressive materialization of the self in the appearance of the body, in the visible identity of the individual. This is the drift of Roger Weiss’ argument.

As phenomenology shows, if the self exists in the world via the body, it can be experienced in two different ways: objectively and a subjectively. Bodies that by their functioning test the limits of their own reality. Shards of the drama of the human condition. In daily life, the body is the self, the dwelling place of my feelings, where I move, the frame for my perspectives. And I can even adopt a perspective of examining my own body. But there are innumerable social occasions where a separation exists between the self and the body. Medical discourse, for example, with its ability to turn a person into a patient. Or, at its most extreme, into a corpse. On which one can operate without any resistance. But even then, the self remains, as it were, trapped. Because not only do I have a body, I am a body.

And, today, living as we do in a body-crazed society, individuals are always being called on to “work on” or “look after” their bodies. And if individuals know what they can do – within certain limits – with their own bodies, the problem remains what to do with this freedom, because the body expresses an established rapport with the surrounding world. Thus becoming an existential option. A topical theme for contemporary democracies.

Roger Weiss’ photographs are life forms that speak by means of the body and not about the body. They relate setbacks and aspirations, weaknesses and strengths, pain and joy. Of rights achieved and rights trodden down. The flesh that exposes itself, calls for others’ perception. Obliging these perceptions to pause on its appearance.

A place where the self and the world intermingle and relegate the realm of ideas to second place in order to deal with the realm of the visible. The inner self, usually held back as opaque and inaccessible, becomes open and displayed on the skin. So, it’s not about somebody else’s body that conceals a self. Rather, it’s about bodies that reveal a self. And, being able to follow every fold, it is possible to feel emotions that become stories. Moments that become history. The photographer, just as he enlarges faces, expands the feelings experienced. In other words, he enables us to “reach within”, putting people in touch with themselves and others.

And thus, these oversize photographs rub up against us, creating the friction that is typical of the human encounter. Every body, though forming and representing defined individuality, is turned outside itself, and is set in a relationship. Not an absorbing empathy but rather an invitation to live a relationship of differences. In which reciprocal differences are a pre-condition for understanding. That is project 35; that is what democracy should be about!

Naked Yoga Teacher Ralph Craig: Kris Humphries 'Laughed & Joked' On 'Kourtney And Kim Take New York' [Showbiz]

This article is from The Hollywood Reporter:

The Ashtanga instructor tells a different tale about Kardashian's 72-day husband's initial reaction to the nude yoga class on the deftly-edited season premiere of the reality show.

Ralph Craig – the naked yoga teacher who became the final straw in Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries volcanic 72-day marriage -- got a lot of exposure for his Sunday appearance on E!'s Kourtney & Kim Take New York season premiere. And some flack. After walking into the naked yoga class arranged by Kourtney Kardashian, featuring girls in thongs and a handsome naked dread-locked yogi, Kris railed at Kim about the "disgusting and disrespectful" event, referred to Craig as a "stripper" claimed he felt like "throwing up" and skedaddled back to Montana. Watch the video here.

But according to Craig, a 22-year-old Ashanga yogi and practicing Buddhist, Humphries initial reaction was one of surprise and laughter, something that was not shown on the aired episode. "I haven't seen the show yet but I read some of the reports of what he said. It was pretty surprising to read about it because it was all really funny when he first came in. I went to open the door and he looked taken aback but he was laughing, shook his head and made a joke about it. In fact, that was the funniest moment of the shoot.”

The UK's Gay Times (GT) magazine has launched it 2012 Naked Issue. GT has claimed on its website that with a grand total of 120 men taking part, they are quietly confident that it's the biggest naked photoshoot for their magazine ever. The reason for the Naked Issue is to raise money and awareness for the Elton John AIDS foundation.

Naked News - Backstage A Documentary [Film]

The trials and tribulations of disrobing while imparting the day's news come under the spotlight in `Naked News Backstage'. Lead anchor, Victoria Sinclair points out that the jobs that she and her co-anchors perform are virtually unique. That is undoubtedly true, but this behind-the-scenes look at the show also displays the familiar rituals that beset workplaces the world over: the employee who can't arrive for work on time, computers that don't work, personal issues that can affect job performance, and petty personality conflicts.

This concentration on the show's presenters, while always interesting, means that less time is devoted to its raison d'être. We don't really learn how the stories that are to be shown on a given day are selected. However, we do find out that not every major news story will be aired. For example, a court case that made international headlines throughout its duration was only mentioned on Naked News after the verdict was announced. The show's policy on when disrobing or nudity is inappropriate is also only briefly referred to. Also notable by its absence is the subject of the (now defunct) male version of Naked News.

As for their work, the ladies who present the show are, for the most part, unconcerned with outside perceptions of their occupations. However, April Torres confides that, "My parents believe that I work in a dental office." It should be mentioned, for those who don't watch Naked News, that the nudity is just that: nudity. There's no explicit visual sexual content. Another of the show's anchors, Sandrine Renard puts it best when she describes it as having a "naturist attitude".

The documentary follows ace reporter, Lily Kwan as she decamps from the Naked News base in Toronto, Canada to London, England. Known for carrying out vox pops while topless in various public places, she soon attracts a delighted crowd when she does this in London's Oxford Street. If this were a British sex film, there would be several seconds of scenes of distracted delivery men on bicycles crashing into lampposts and men having accidents with pots of paint up ladders when espying the lovely Lily. In reality though, the police arrive on the scene and are roundly booed when they order Lily to cover up. Spoilsports.

We also see Christine Kerr auditioning and winning a job on the show and Michelle Pantoliano being surprisingly coy about being undressed outside of Naked News. She does, however, specialize in riling her co-workers, notably when Roxanne West takes exception to some smelly food that Michelle threatens to prepare, and Sandrine whose hackles are raised in a discussion about shoes.

Due to youtube policies, some shots are blurred.

More than 120 participants from the Canoe Club to the Theatre Group got their kit off for this year’s Naked Calendar.

Marketing co-ordinator for Leeds RAG, Eleanor Calsy-Harrison, took part in the shoot.

She said: “The RAG Naked Calendar features 13 societies from the University of Leeds and an assortment of appropriately placed props.

“It was really daunting and some people were a lot more nervous about taking their clothes off than others.

“But everyone was happy to do it and the photos look great.”

She added: “One hundred per cent of the money raised will go to the Community Fund, which is split amongst local charities.”

It is hoped they will raise £2,000 from the calendars, which are available to buy from the RAG office at Leeds University.

It all started in 1933 with a paper by Howard Warren, a Princeton psychologist and president of the American Psychological Association, who spent a week at a German nudist camp a year earlier.

According to Ian Nicholson, Professor of Psychology at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, in the Journal of the History of the Behavioral Sciences, Warren’s article, “Social Nudism and the Body Taboo,” “was a qualitative and largely sympathetic consideration of the social and psychological significance of nudism.”

Ai Weiwei Supporters Strip Off As Artist Faces 'Porn' Investigation [Censorship]

Ai-Weiwei-supporters-get--007

This article was taken from guardian.co.uk:

When artist Ai Weiwei disappeared, supporters made online appeals for his return. When authorities handed him a £1.5m tax bill, they sent money to help pay it. And now that he faces an investigation for spreading pornography – his admirers have stripped off.

Internet users began tweeting their nude photographs after Ai announced that authorities had questioned his cameraman over pictures which showed the artist and four women naked.

Many Chinese contemporary artists have taken pictures of themselves without clothes, and the pictures of Ai that have emerged so far do not appear sexually charged. Some suspect that it may be an attempt by the authorities to smear the artist, whose 81-day detention this spring caused international outrage.

Officials accused him of economic crimes but supporters say the authorities are engaged in a vendetta because of Ai's social and political activism and criticism of the government.

While a couple of internet users tweeted full-frontal shots, others have come up with more decorous – and ingenious – variations on the theme. Some posted pictures of themselves as babies; one photo shows a row of nine unclothed women and one man – with images of Ai's head superimposed over their genitals and nipples.

Li Tiantian, a Shanghai lawyer who was herself detained earlier this year, appears partially concealed by a picture of a "grass mud horse", a creature invented by internet users to mock censors; its name is a homonym for a graphic curse.

"It is an expression of support for Ai Weiwei and scorn to the Chinese government. It shows our attitude and anger towards the government's behaviour," she said.

"We are simply using an eyecatching way to attract people's attention. There are so many pornography websites in China: they don't regulate them, yet say that this is spreading pornography."

Wen Yunchao, a blogger in Hong Kong who posted two nude photographs of himself, told Reuters: "This is a matter that has made many people very indignant. The interpretation of people's naked bodies in itself is an individual freedom and a form of creative freedom. Also, we don't see any pornographic elements in [Ai's] photographs. So we are using this extreme method to express our protest."

Zhao Zhao, the videographer who took the original pictures of Ai last year, told Reuters that Beijing police interrogated him about them for about four hours, telling him the photographs were obscene.

Ai told the news agency that police had also questioned him about the pictures. He said they did not have a hidden political meaning and were not meant to criticise the government, but noted that authorities might nonetheless see them as a "rebellious act".

Separately, the artist has encouraged supporters to call bloggers and commentators he described as leaders of the "50 cent" – pro-government – internet users, tweeting their phone numbers.

One of them, Wang Wen, told the Guardian he had received between 100 and 200 calls and innumerable messages since Sunday and that another man had received about 1,000 calls. He complained that posting the number was not fair, but refused to comment further.

1000BodiesProject Art Event Comes To London [Art, Event]

Imagine yourself in a photo studio, alone and completely naked with a black mask in one hand and a remote camera trigger in the other. You get one shot, and the result is up to you.
Do you dare?
Push your limits and join in on the 1000BodiesProject now!

Open session scheduled in London on Saturday, Nov 26th 2011! 10 am – 6 pm

Location: Flixels London in Scrubs Lane, near Willesden Junction. (Map and directions)
Many thanks to Flixels for facilitating this!

This is open to everybody. In fact, the less you look like a typical model, the more welcome you are! Therefore, spread the word to all your friends, family and acquaintances! (Also invite them to the Facebook event).

Whether you’re an experienced nude model, or have never been naked in your life, whether you’re a policeman, real estate agent, kindergarden teacher, retired, student, lawyer, office clerk, old, young, fat, skinny, lacking an arm or leg, covered in tattoos or piercings, male or female, exhibitionist or the most shy person in the world, you can participate in this project. Everybody is wanted.

It takes 10 minutes, you take the photo yourself, it’s free of charge, and it’s fun!

The project will result in an exhibition and a photo book.

The rules of the project are:
You are alone in the studio when the picture is taken, and you take it yourself.
You can wear no clothes, but you will be given a mask to be used as you wish.
You pose however you feel like. There will be no mirror – you take the photo when you feel comfortable.
You have 1 – one – shot.

You will sign a model release before participating, ensuring your own and the project’s safety. You will also be fully instructed in how to take the photo, and will have all questions answered.
Once the photo is taken you can have a look at it, and you will also receive it by email. If you are not happy with the result, you don’t get a second chance. The aim of the project is not to selectively show your best side, but to show you as you are. Should you wish to withdraw, you may do so whenever you wish (until the photo has been printed for exhibitions).

The project was featured in Norway's 2nd largest national newspaper.

The project is based at Kolonihaven Studio in Oslo, Norway. Map and directions are found here. We are currently working on taking the project to other places all over the world, with the help of local contacts. If you want 1000BodiesProject to come to your city, feel free to contact us at bodies (a) cinaed.net.
