How Nudism Can Save You Money [Home & Garden]
By Nathan Powers
Nudists (or “naturists” as some prefer to be referred to), have been the brunt of many a joke for many years. However, the truth of the matter is that living a nudist lifestyle may actually be far better for you, physically, ecologically and economically.
That dirty word – “Laundry”: Let’s start with the obvious. Nudists tend to wear as little clothing as possible, usually nothing at all, as often as possible or whenever conditions allow. Most live in climates that are tropical enough to maximize this opportunity. Wearing less clothing means washing less clothing and washing the clothing that they own less frequently, requiring the repair and replacement of clothing less often. They also tend to have less of a wardrobe, requiring less storage space. So here, we are seeing a saving in money spent on laundry detergents, gas and electricity to operate a washer and dryer, replacement clothing and repair costs, home closet or storage space. We also see less chlorine, phosphates, ozone and carbon dioxide pumped into the environment as well as a reduction in health issues related to exposure to the chemicals needed for properly washing clothing. (Chlorine bleach is one of the deadliest chemicals we can expose ourselves to).
Cooling Down: Since for practicality reasons, most nudists live in either tropical or subtropical regions, many homes and businesses in those regions have some form of air conditioning. Nudists can save money and as in the case of laundry, the environment, by being able to turn up the thermostat a few degrees and allowing the natural cooling system provided in our bodies to do it’s job. Also, if things get a little too hot, it is very easy to simply jump in a cool shower or hose off for a second or two with having to take the time to get undress and redressed. Besides, who wants to throw those sweaty clothing back on right after a shower.
Health Costs: There are other bonuses as well. It has recently been found that exposure to natural sunlight is far healthier to the human body than attempting to hide from the sun altogether. Regulated exposure to natural sunlight lets the body naturally produce all of the Vitamin “D” it needs to ward off a host of deadly and debilitating diseases, cancers and conditions, including MS, ALS, osteoporosis, breast, ovarian, prostate and brain cancers. (source) Even more recent reports indicate that almost all sunscreens are completely ineffective in reducing the deadliest forms of cancer, melanoma (source). Several reports indicate that the ingredients used to manufacture sunscreens are actually more harmful that the cancers they purport to prevent. However, by balancing the ratio of Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, combined with an adequate amount of Vitamin “D”, incidence of melanoma has shown to be reduced by around 40% (source). It is therefore better to gradually expose the body to the sun, slowly building up our body’s own natural sunscreen, melanin, being careful not to get sunburned in the process.
The bottom line is that nudists can save a ton of money by not buying sunscreen, simply exposing themselves to natural sunlight in appropriate amounts; there by creating Vitamin “D” for free and by simply eating a diet that balances omega 3 acids. This can be done through supplement or through adding fish, flax or kiwi fruit to their diets. The real savings come from not having to pay medical bills for treatments for all of the conditions.
Stuff: Nudism is often referred to as the “Great Equalizer”. When people are naked around other people, it is difficult to tell if a person is the president of a bank, or a school janitor. Consequently, nudists tend to be far less “class-conscious”. Nudists are typically less likely to want to keep up with the Joneses, realizing that not only do clothes not really make the man, but neither do homes, cars, boats etc.
More Health – Less Stress – More Money: Studies have also found that children raised in nudist homes tend to be more socially developed (and often more intelligent) than those raised in “textile” families. Nudists generally feel that they have nothing to hide. That attitude permeates the rest of their psyche as well, so they tend to be less stressed out and more sure of themselves. We have probably all heard about the health problems produced by living under stress. Nudists save money by not having to treat as many stress related disorders. (source – pdf format) Also, by being more self confident, and supposedly better educated, they are more likely to get better jobs, making more money.
Society: Those same group of studies indicated that children raised in nudist homes are less inclined to become burdens to society. They are less likely to become involved in early sexual or drug experimentation or to commit crimes against society. This is partially because they are not as materially oriented and because they are already familiar with the looks and workings of the opposite sex. In general, nudity allows them to be more open and honest in their family life, which is expressed in how they relate to others in general. Nudists save money by not having to bail their children out of jail, take them to the doctors to treat sexually transmitted diseases or help them raise unwanted grandchildren (as frequently). If all families raised their children with the same attitudes as nudists, we would all be able to save money by having to pay less in taxes to support fewer children of unwanted pregnancies, drug addicts, juvenile delinquents, vandalism, etc.

Naturist Etiquette 101 [How-To]
Naturism is built on respect - for fellow naturists, for non- naturists, and for the environment. Naturists have a few simple rules of etiquette; read them, and remember that the respect is mutual:
1 Naturists are not, generally, masochists, so if it is too cold to be naked naturists wear clothes. Conversely, if it is warm enough to be naked, many/most naturists will want to be so, whether indoors or out - though there are many people who enjoy swimming and sun-bathing naked but prefer to be clothed at other times or for other activities. It's a matter of personal choice.
2 The practice at most naturist locations for total nudity to be the norm throughout the day and wherever possible. Sometimes for some naturist locations, it is expected that naturists are clothed in the evenings/night in the public areas, restaurants, bars or club houses. On the other hand, it is expected that no bathing costumes are worn in the pools if there is one.
3 The normal naturist etiquette is ALWAYS to have a towel to sit on, not necessarily to cover up with. This is for reasons of hygiene and, frankly, consideration of friends' or the naturist location's chairs and seats - protecting others from suntan oils, sweat etc.
4 Do not go out of established nude areas. To wander nude into a clothed beach or parking area will offend many.
5 The normal naturist etiquette is not to indulge in any overtly sexual behaviour in a public place - no different from textile etiquette. In the unlikely event of becoming sexually aroused, a naturist would be expected to turn away or cover up to avoid embarrassing anyone, including himself.
6 Photography is only permissible in a naturist resort if the explicit permission of people appearing in the photographs and who could be recognisable is obtained by the photographer - most naturists, like everyone else, like to preserve their privacy and to decide for themselves whether and where any photographs of them or their families appear.
7 Speak up for standards. If a person seems unaware of proper naturist etiquette, explain politely and plainly.
8 There is no need to worry that you may unwittingly break the rules - observing what others do, or asking their advice, will put you on the right tracks - and remember, naturist communities are generally very friendly and, unless you behave outrageously, you will quickly be accepted into the community. Just relax!
9 When you arrive at a naturist location, you should make yourself comfortable. Start removing all your clothing at once, but make sure you're comfortable and that you appear comfortable. Then relax and enjoy the experience - don't be tense and edgy.
10 Last but not least "Be Yourself", your first visit is a special one and maybe your first step and we want you to remember it! Once you are comfortably nude and enjoying yourself, it's easy to be friendly and approachable. Do not just sit off in a corner by yourself - walk around, chat, get to know people. If people do not want to talk to you, you will know, but a lot of naturists are very friendly and enjoy meeting new people. Go for it!
How To Practice Nude Beach Etiquette [How-To]
Step 1: Don't Call Them Nudists
Don’t call them nudists. The politically correct term is “naturist.”
Step 2: Don't Stare At People's Private Parts
Don’t stare at people’s private parts. Here’s a good rule of thumb: If it would be unseemly to gape at that body part when it’s fully clothed, it’s downright rude to gawk at it undressed.
Step 3: Ask Permission Before Taking Photographs
Always ask permission before snapping a photo or video — they’re naturists, not zoo animals. And no one wants to worry that their jelly rolls are going to be on YouTube
Step 4: Be Wary Of Using Binoculars
The same goes for binoculars, which are only appropriate if you’re discovering new lands, looking at birds, or enjoying an opera.
Step 5: Restrict Nudity To The Beach
Restrict nudity to the beach. When you’re in the parking lot, for example, have some clothes on.
Step 6: Cover Chairs With A Towel
Carry a towel wherever you go so you can put it down on beach loungers, bar stools, restaurant chairs, and so on.
Step 7: Make Everyone Feel Comfortable
Make everyone feel comfortable, even those who are only willing to go so far as being “top-free," as the naturists like to call it. Naturists, after all, are all about acceptance.
How To Date A Nudist When You Are Not One [How-To]
from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit
Is it possible to find love with someone who is a nudist when you are not? Although you may have a different opinion about whether or not to wear a swimsuit to the beach, you can meet your nudist (or sometimes referred to as “naturist”) date halfway. Instead of looking at the situation from a one-sided perspective (you may think that being naked is embarrassing whereas your date thinks its great), open your mind and embrace your differences. Regardless of whether he or she is a full-time or part-time nudist you can find common ground to cultivate a healthy dating relationship.

Steps
- Do your homework. Before you form an opinion about nudism or naturism, do some research to find out more about the lifestyle. For most nudists, being naked in a public (or even private) place has no sexual connotations, but practice the lifestyle because it helps them to feel free and one with nature. Special clubs, beaches and even conventions are dedicated to naturism, where entire families convene and celebrate being human and embracing nature.
- Determine how you feel about the topic. Your nudist date may have his or her personal opinion as to why the nudist lifestyle seems right, but you need to determine how you feel about the topic.
- You have no opinion whatsoever. Since your date can’t be naked 24/7 and probably commutes to work, interacts with people on a daily basis and lives in modern society, you may not have any specific opinion about his or her nudism because you are not exposed to it (or have limited exposure). In some cases, you may be able to date a nudist without having to be part of the lifestyle and keep dates to public places and traditional social gatherings--what the nudist does on his or her own time is fine with you.
- You are uncomfortable with nudism. Especially if you are uncomfortable with your own nakedness, you may be uneasy with your date’s nudism. Determine if you are uncomfortable around your date all the time or if the feelings of unrest arrive when he or she wants to be naked (while you are not).
- You are curious about the lifestyle. Perhaps you don't want to join the revolution, but perhaps you are intrigued by naturism. You may want to do your own in-depth research and then, when you feel as if your date feels comfortable, ask questions.
- Have a frank discussion about any hang ups. If this relationship is going to move beyond a few dates you are going to have to ask questions and lay your feelings out on the table.
- Choose an opportune situation to have the discussion such as over dinner or coffee. Select a time when he or she is not naked so you can focus on the topic instead of the fact he or she has disrobed.
- Determine when a discussion is important. If you have only been a few dates and like the other person, see which aspects of naturism you can work through on your own. You don’t want to embark upon a serious discussion about what concerns you early on and upset or freak the other person out.
- Get the root of the real problem. Before you embark upon your concerns determine which aspects of nudism bothers you most. Is it that your date likes to practice nudism in inappropriate times and places or are you uncomfortable that he or she is a nudist in general. If you are uncomfortable with nudism in general, the problem may have something more to do with your personal opinions and experiences versus what the other person is doing.
- Decide which aspects you can live with. If you really like the other person and want to continue dating him or her, you’ll need to determine if you can deal with his or her naturism. In many cases you can work out when and where he or she practices nudism.
- Establish times when nudism is off limits. If you aren’t a fan of naturism, but feel as if this is the kind of relationship you are comfortable pursing, lay down some ground rules so that everyone is comfortable. For example, if he or she likes to be naked at home but you are uncomfortable, make a rule that nudism is only o.k. when you aren’t around.
- Identify situations where you are o.k. with naturism. Situations include nude beaches, clubs or in private places--set clear rules about when your date should feel comfortable getting naked.
- Decide to be undecided. If this is your first experience with someone who is a nudist, try to remain open-minded and willing to embrace your date’s interest. That doesn’t mean that you have to become a nudist, however as your feelings develop for the other person, understand that you may feel more comfortable with naturism and may eventually see it as a healthy lifestyle.
Tips
- Explore different options of the nudist culture such as topless only or going to family friendly beaches or locales.
- Remind your nudist date to liberally apply sunscreen to every exposed area of the body. A nasty sunburn in certain areas of the body may create a hiccup in your love life.
- Understand that being a nudist does not make the other person perverted or sexually creepy. Do some research to understand the thinking behind the movement.
- Consider trying it if you are curious about the lifestyle.
Warnings
- If you are completely uncomfortable with dating a nudist be honest and discontinue dating the person.

How To Practice Nudity In Your Family [How-To]
Despite the good intentions of many parents, prohibiting household nakedness can have negative consequences for children. In our media saturated urbanised world, children like this are primed with an appetite for nudity related subject matter (of which most is unhealthy.) It takes a bit of work for the affected parent, but you can get over this and help your children to avoid some of these pitfalls of modern living. Fortunately as a parent you have the unique opportunity to provide a healthy environment for nakedness right in the refuge of your own home. Disclaimer: The purpose here is not to promote public nudity as a method for this How To; quite the contrary (see Warnings section below). This guide is intended primarily as a tool for parents who want to teach their children a wholesome understanding of human nakedness. This How To is intended primarily for use by parents in their home.
Steps
- Encourage family nudity without being abnormal. Young children have not yet acquired a sophisticated understanding of modesty, and really don't care who sees them naked. This is the time when the parent can mould their conscience without making them self-conscious of nakedness. This, in turn, will help children associate nakedness to routine activity instead of exclusively naughty activity, helping illicit forms of nakedness to lose their appeal later in life.
- Allow your children - from birth - to see you in ordinary nude situations (e.g.- dressing, bathing or showering, using the toilet) or any activity where nudity is a natural part. By being comfortable with your own body you will naturally convey the message to your children that nudity really is okay and not something to fear. There are naturally times in life when clothes must be worn for protection, for comfort, and to adhere to societal norms. However, by talking with your children about being comfortable with nudity at home, your children will grow up understanding that being nude & being seen nude at home isn't something "uncool, horrible, and utterly embarrassing."
- Start allowing/encouraging family nudity during potty training & continue through the school age years and beyond. You'd be surprised how quickly potty training takes root when your toddler/preschooler is allowed to go bare at home, but...be prepared for occasional "accidents" as well, and handle these situations calmly without anger or revulsion.
- As they begin to recognise differences between themselves and you or your spouse, explain to them the reason for these differences. Suggested explanations are: "Mommy's breasts are for giving milk to babies like when you were small"? or "Mommy and daddy have hair down here because our bodies are warmer, and it helps keep our bodies cooler (by retaining sweat)."
Tips
- A focal point for nudity that enables the whole family to participate together is very helpful. An indoor swimming pool is ideal, but not practical for most families. Saunas are also excellent for this, but are not as common in the U.S. as Europe. Other water related ideas could be an outdoor pool below or above ground. A cheaper yet more practical idea that works year round would be a hot tub. Children see this as a heated kiddie swimming pool they can use water toys in too.
- A great side benefit to wholesome understandings of the naked body in the home is that when the time comes to explain human reproduction, there will be less tension from the children. They will not have the distraction of embarrassment when discussing (what for others can be) 'shameful' body parts. This in turn, will keep the communication lines open during adolescence.
- There are many great books on pregnancy and adolescence that separate the romantic (i.e. sexual) aspect from the physiological changes of puberty. These books provide a very neutral clinical look at breast and pubic hair growth during the teen years, and include very candid photos of actual births. Influences like these help separate nudity from sex in the child's mind, and provide a framework where family nudity can flourish to the benefit of all.
- Realise that not all shame is bad shame. Good shame is ingrained to help us avoid compromising situations. But other shame is the result of social conditioning during childhood, and unnecessarily predisposes us to clothes compulsiveness.
- Respect others' standards. One good approach is to point out that other people are not accustomed to nudity, and it's kind to respect their wishes. This may mean keeping the curtains drawn, or willingly closing the bathroom door when guests are present, for example -- a practice that encourages courtesy, but not shame.
- Young adolescents naturally develop increased modesty around the time of puberty. Don't force someone to be nude. Wearing pants for a while may help the transition. Being around other teens who role model comfort with their bodies will be reassuring.
- For families where the children are older it may be difficult to change attitudes. In some cases big decisions may need to be made in order to break free from habits. Such changes may include ridding the home of magazines (men's magazines, fashion, or sports related material), television, or other media that subtly foster a "nudity is sex"? mindset. Peers are also part of the equation. It may be necessary to move to another region to get a fresh start. Teenagers especially are very keen on whether the parents walk the talk, so if a parent still models these attitudes so will the teens.
- The goal is to provide children the opportunity to see nakedness in a way that is almost non-existant in our society: to make it a neutral, non-sensuous part of everyday life in its proper context. This goes a long way toward innoculating them from the enticements so easily found outside the walls of your home and in the marketplace.
Warnings
- Be careful about with whom you share your family practices. Not all people will easily come to the conclusions you intended. Nudity and sex are still considered to be related in our society; this stems partly from puritanical attitudes, but also from decades of hedonistic influence by the swingers movement, from influences such as Hedomism II in Jamaica, the SunnyDaze Resort in Colorado, and events like Nudes-a-Poppin in Indiana.
- Although this should be obvious to any well-meaning parent, care is advised during moments of intimacy and marital relations. Since the genitalia are a major source of pleasure during these times, be careful to instead emphasise the primary functions (birth canal, urination) of genitals to younger children. Anything beyond that may overpower their emotional stage of development and work against the wholesome environment you are trying to maintain. Marital intimacy is best left behind closed doors.
- Avoid exposing children to nude photography from fine art, or internet sources as some of this has a subtly skewed pornographic message that untrained eyes will not immediately recognise. The best example is you, your spouse, and older siblings or relatives who bring a very real element to human nakedness.
- Exercise proper hygiene. When exercising family nudity, always encourage/require the use of a towel for sitting. As any parent can tell you, young children don't always exercise the very best cleaning methods after using the potty. Don't be embarrassed about teaching good, healthy personal toileting hygiene to your children. They look to you to teach them properly and correctly.

How To Visit A Nudist Resort Or Beach [How-To]
Visiting a nudist beach or resort can be a liberating and life-changing event or just a new way to enjoy time with your loved ones. But before you bare all, there are ground rules that you need to know so that you get the most out of the experience.
Steps
- Research nudist areas in your state or province. The internet has literally thousands of websites dedicated to nude recreation.[1] In North America, there are over 250 clubs and resorts where people can vacation in the buff.[2]
- There's a stereotype that nudist destinations are patronized by a disproportionate number of elderly folks.[2] If that's something you wish to avoid, look for family-friendly resorts, or resorts that cater to couples looking for a romantic getaway.
- Call ahead. Ask what is needed to visit their club and whether they accept single people or families, depending on your situation. Some places require an annual membership, but might allow an initial visit. Another important thing to ask is if it's "clothing optional" or "clothes free". In the latter, stripping down is mandatory, and it might not be the best choice if this is your first time experiencing the nudist lifestyle.
- When you arrive at your specific nudist venue, be sure to check in at the office so they know everyone who is there. Some places have a gate, others have a phone.
- Sit back, relax, and look good naked.
Tips
- Avoid sexual activity in the open. Remember that these are family areas that may have children close by. Open sexual activity has led to the closure of more than one nude beach. Save that type of activity for your home or hotel.
- Leave the cameras at home. People are there to relax, not to have the stress of ending up on a website added to their lives.
- Do not try to pick up women. Most people are there to enjoy the sun and the peace of mind, not hook up.
- If someone has clearly come to gawk and is lewdly staring at you, have a small pocket mirror on hand and briefly shine it in their face. This quickly gets the message across that their behaviour is unwelcome.
Warnings
- There is always the question for the males regarding erections. While erections are regarded as normal, an erection in public is not considered proper. Just sit down for a while, lie on your stomach or bury it in the sand until it subsides.

How To Skinny Dip [How-To]
from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit
Skinny dipping is the colloquial term for nude swimming. It can be more relaxing and therapeutic let the water run through your skin without the extra baggage of clothing. It's also fun to skinny dip with a close group of friends at a pool party or in a private lake -- safely, of course.
Steps
- Remember that public nudity is illegal, and you could get into trouble with the police for skinny dipping. Do your homework and check local laws/regulations for nudity before you engage in skinny dipping. In the US, you should choose a private or secluded area to do this because many states and municipalities enforce dress codes and discourage public nudity.[1]
- If you are with a group of people, casually suggest the idea to see if any of them are also up for trying it. You may want to initially pose the suggestion as a question -- e.g., have you ever wondered what it's like to skinny dip? -- to avoid coming off as a pervert or creep. This definitely depends on the type of people that you are with, so use your judgment and common sense.
- Be self-confident about your physique. You won't feel comfortable getting naked if you're extremely critical or self-conscious of the way that you look. Either exercise regularly to get fit or if you already are, say positive things about yourself and restrict the negative thoughts. No one is perfect, so learn to appreciate the body that you have.
- If any friends are hesitant about joining you, try to get them to feel confident about their bodies too. Self-consciousness is one of the biggest mental barriers to a desire for skinny dipping.
- Wait for the right moment. If you run to the pool, strip, and jump in while everyone is getting food, it won't be nearly as much fun. Wait until other activities subside and the party becomes comfortable before beginning bathe nude.
- If it's a big party with music and dancing, you might choose to wait until a slow song comes on, then grab someone you are fond of and go skinny dipping.
- However, if everybody's practicing their cannonballs, and you're up on the diving board, and you take your suit off at that moment, you'll make a bigger "skinny-dipping entrance."
- When you are ready, strip off your clothes/bathing suit and jump in the pool! Be enthusiastic, confident and spontaneous as you undress.
- In the water, splash around, do the breaststroke, and enjoy the cool water against your curves. If you are in a group and have at least 3 people with you, chances are, more will follow. If not, enjoy yourself and don't act embarrassed that you are in the minority! Show the others what they're missing out on.

Tips
- Know local laws for skinny dipping and nudity, especially if traveling abroad.[2]
- Feel free to look at other skinny dippers and to admire their physique, unless they are clearly uncomfortable about the whole activity.[3] However, do not leer or stare -- that's rude.
- A good strategy for one-on-one skinny dipping is the "I'll take off mine if you take off yours" attitude. Never fails. Most of all just have fun!
Warnings
- Public nudity is illegal in some places. This is best performed at a private swimming pool to avoid getting ticketed.
- Make sure the place is appropriate. Always keep your pool party out of the vision of young children. Skinny dipping when minors are present could get you arrested.[4]
- Be careful and tactful when suggesting skinny dipping as a group activity; you could come off as perverted.

How To Sleep Naked [How-To]
Do you get sweaty on hot nights? Do you find yourself waking up in the middle of the night with your clothes all tangled up and making you uncomfortable? Do you hate waking up tired and groggy because you couldn't sleep comfortably? This article will not only tell you how to sleep naked and (if there is a strict clothing policy in your house) how to not get caught!
Steps
- Decide if sleeping naked is right for you. Do you share a room or bed with other people or siblings? Do people constantly access your room without knocking? Is there no door for privacy? If you sleep in your own room, you should probably tell your parents that you want more privacy and you want them to knock before coming in. And/or inform them that you prefer to sleep in the buff so they are at least aware. If you sleep in a room with roommates or siblings then it is really something you should discuss with them before you attempt to do so. If you can't resolve any of the above issues then it would probably be best if you had some pajamas on to avoid confrontational/embarrassing situations.
- Find a place to keep your clothes/robe in case of an emergency (at the end of your bed, where your feet are, so you can slip them on). If there is a fire, earthquake, robbery, etc., you need to make sure you have easy access to clothes and/or a robe, which is much easier to put on. Having to leave your house bare isn't something that you want to do often. Try to keep an accessible robe near your bed.
- If your parents/roommates are not aware you sleep naked. Choose a night when you know you will wake up on your own or with the use an alarm clock. You really don't want someone to walk in on you if your blankets/sheets aren't covering your sensitive areas. But waking up to an alarm clock every morning doesn't exactly give you a relaxed awakening from your peaceful sleep. An alarm clock can also be downright annoying and negate the benefits of sleeping naked.
- Again, if you have not made others in the household aware, make sure you are the last to go to bed. Say goodnight to everyone and get into bed with your sleeping clothes on. When you are sure everyone is in bed and won't be "checking" on you, slip off your clothes and place them in your designated spot, preferably where nobody will see them, but where they will be easily accessible to you.
- Keep extra blankets for cold nights. There's no such excuse as "It's too cold to sleep naked." Your body is a great self-regulator in temperature. Clothes just throw that off. An extra blanket will work just as well as wearing a set of PJ's, actually better because blankets won't reduce blood circulation or cause you discomfort in the middle of the night like clothes do when you are sleeping.
- Finally! Just strip! Don't be bashful! It's only your body! Snuggle up in bed and you'll find that when you wake up, you'll be surprisingly more refreshed and energized for the day than usual. That is if you don't have an alarm clock screaming in your ear. At first the experience may feel awkward for many, but after a few days, you get comfortable to being naked. For most, after a couple of days you'll realize how much you actually enjoy it.
Tips
- If you are new to sleeping naked, yet want to try the experience, take it a step at a time. If you want, for the first night, try sleeping shirtless. The second night, try sleeping in only underwear or boxers. Keep removing an article of clothing each night until you feel comfortable enough to get naked.
- Keep your clothes where nobody can find them easily. Just throwing them on the floor will be pretty obvious that you aren't wearing them!
- On occasion, you will not need a set of clothes, as underwear can be a substitute for a pair of clothes under the bed. They are harder to find and some would rather see you in them than being bare when you put them on.
- Use of a night robe. It will keep you completely covered in case of emergency, but also be easier to put on than regular clothes. Just slip it on or off, depending on what you need.
- If you are sleeping naked in secret, make sure you have an alarm or something else besides a person to wake you up in the morning.
- If you didn't concern parents about your privacy and you have a door with a lock and you are allowed to lock your door, then do it. However, be aware of any danger this may present in case of fire or other emergency.
- Be sure to wash between your legs and between your butt cheeks thoroughly before going to bed. You may even want to use a baby wipe on your genitals and anus. This will keep the sheets clean, and if caught naked, you will at least be squeaky clean!
Warnings
- Sleeping naked anywhere other than your own house can be dangerous and embarrassing. It is advised to sleep in at least your underwear at another person's house/public area. This also applies if you live with someone else, with your family, or especially with someone you're not close to.
- If you have a pet, you will need to find an area where you can keep your clothes hidden from them too! Waking up to find your dog tearing up your boxers in the middle of your floor won't look too good to your groggy house members.
- If you frequently sleep walk, or if you are on a medication to help you sleep better that may cause sleep walking, then it is advised that you do not attempt sleeping naked. You wouldn't want to wake up in the middle of your living room floor naked with your entire family staring at you!
- Make sure to close the blinds on your bedroom window, if applicable. Remember that if you have the light on in your bedroom in the middle of the night, it will be very easy for anyone who can view the window to see inside.
- Obviously, if you are a female and menstruating, take proper precautions.
Things You'll Need
- Comfortable Bed
- Bed Sheets
- Blankets (For Cold Nights)
- Easily Accessible Robe/Clothing
- Alarm

Or do you feel that you do have the confidence, but don't know how to practice your naturism? This guide will show you how to do both.
Steps
- Realise that there is nothing necessarily sexual about nudity. We are born naked, our natural state is naked and, though people have sex naked, erotic clothing can be more sexually suggestive sometimes than simple nudity. If you still have doubts, think, "When I'm nude in the shower, is that sexual?". The answer is, of course, "No". Nudity can, however, be sensual: the feeling of air or water flowing unobstructed over every inch of your skin awakens the senses and can provide an intense experience sometimes similar to sexual feelings. This is healthy. Also, though nudity is not necessarily sexual, you shouldn't feel ashamed to have or explore sexual feelings then either, since that's perfectly natural sometimes too, and suppressing those thoughts and feelings can negate the benefits of healthy naturism.
- Sleep naked. Not topless, not in underwear: totally naked. This has been shown to aid relaxation therefore giving you a better night's sleep, and makes you cooler in summer (and it's not as cold as you might think in winter), because your body can distribute heat better. If the night is warm enough, sleep naked without any blankets or covering whatsoever; just expose your body to the air and see how much better you will feel. Sleeping naked will help you feel better about nudity. If Your uncomfortable sleeping naked work your way up to it! Take of one piece of clothing every time you get used to sleeping without the last.
- Don't put clothes on after a bath or shower: stay naked.
- Spend as much time as you can around the house naked, whether you are eating, cleaning, watching TV, sunning in your backyard, or just relaxing. You will be surprised at how much more comfortable you will feel without clothes.
- Search online for your nearest naturist club or beach, and try visiting when you feel confident enough. Don't worry that your body is "inadequate". Once you attend for the first time, you'll find that most people there have something "wrong" with their bodies, be it being overweight, a small penis, sagging breasts, small breasts, a pot-belly and much more. Everybody is different and nobody cares anyway.
- Take a naturist holiday. France is excellent for these. If that's too far, closer to home you can likely find a clothing-optional resort, or natural mountain hot springs for nude soaking, or skinny-dipping spots.
- Continue to be naked whenever you can! Check out your local laws regarding being topfree at a park, beach, or swimming pool, or participate in one of the fun naked bike rides which are held all over the world.
Tips
- You may find this easier (and more fun) if you do it with a partner or a friend.
- If you do exercise at home, conduct it naked.
- Be sure to use ample sunblock outdoors.
Warnings
- In many places, public nudity (in a non-naturist area) is legal (e.g., in Britain, public nudity is not illegal). In some countries however, nudity is never illegal. In the U.S., local laws vary: many localities are taking a healthier attitude toward simple public nudity, and making it perfectly legal as long as there is no intent to alarm. Google for a local naturist organization and inquire with them about what you can do legally in public.
- Cooking naked is not recommended as it will be more difficult to avoid being burned, treat burns, and explain burns to others.

Erections & Naturism [Young British Naturists]
In terms of your concerns about erections, you are not the first to be worried about this; nor will you be the last. I hope that I am able to put your mind at rest with the following information.
I have been a Naturist for a long time and YBN has many members that are completely new to Naturism and to being naked socially. Nearly all of the members have shown the same concern about getting an erection when they first joined. However when it comes to the crunch of making the step into 'public' nudity there is absolutely nothing to worry about!
It is quite normal that guys’ hormones can be a little wild when they are going through puberty and soon after. It is perfectly natural for your body to react in ways that you have no control over, without any reason or warning… It can be a worrying time, full of confusion and doubt.
The thing to remember when you are in a naturist environment is that although there are lots of naked bodies, it is not sexual in any way. But if when you are naked and feel that you may be getting aroused then you just need to make an effort to cover it up; you can wrap a towel around yourself or roll on your front etc; it is not acceptable to walk around with an erection.
But don't get too hung up on this issue, it really is nothing to worry about! The thought and worry will go away as soon as you arrive and strip off with everyone else!
Naturism is a great way to feel accepted and to become comfortable with your own body image; most members have found that by coming to Naturist events both their overall confidence and their positivity towards their own body image has increased. Naturists are very accepting people; they see people for who they are and not what they look like. It’s not about what ‘brand’ or ‘badge’ you are wearing; it is all about you as a person.
Rest assured though, you are not alone with your initial concerns! After all; the majority of us have felt those same concerns and had those same anxieties. Like most new things; the thought of trying something often creates much more anxiety than at the actual experience itself!!
I hope this helps and if you have any further questions about this or YBN & Naturism in general please do not hesitate to ask.

How Nudism Can Save You Money
